AS & A level components

Mathematics

AS: Two examinations at the end of Year 12 – Unit 1 (Pure Mathematics) & Unit 2 (Applied Mathematics) – counts for 40% of the A2 qualification.

Further Mathematics (2 A levels over two years)

The AS and A2 Mathematics will be sat at the end of Year 12.

Further Mathematics is then taught and examined in Year 13 and consists of five examinations at the end of the year.

AS: Unit 1 (Further Pure Mathematics A), Unit 2 (Further Statistics A), Unit 3 (Further Mechanics A) – counts for 40% of the A2 qualification.
Mathematics

A2: Two examinations at the end of Year 13 – Unit 3 (Pure Mathematics) & Unit 4 (Applied Mathematics) – counts for 60% of the A2 qualification.

Further Mathematics

A2: Unit 4 (Further Pure Mathematics B) & Unit 6 (Further Mechanics B) – counts for 60% of the A2 qualification.
