Student Leadership

My name is Veronica, and I am currently studying Maths, Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and an EPQ, with a plan to continue studying Maths at university. I’ve been at Howells since Year 7, and during my time here, I’ve been introduced to a huge range of activities and have been part of many sports teams, as well as contributing to the orchestra and string group. I was a competitive swimmer for nine years, so my hobbies mostly include running, going to the gym, and listening to music.

One thing that really sticks out about Howells is the sense of community. From friends, students in other year groups, and teachers, everyone supports each other, and that’s why my favourite memories include all the sports days that I have been a part of, where the whole school comes together and everyone cheers and encourages you, really lifting school spirit. Another aspect of Howells that I would say is the most important is the amount of encouragement given by your peers and the level of support that is provided to help you achieve your goals, no matter how ambitious they are. This is why I am so proud to be one of the head students of this school, so I can model this level of support to others and help give back to the school that has provided me with so much.

My name is Chloe, and I have been a member of the Howell’s community since I was just three years old. I have loved every minute of my school experience. I am currently studying Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Psychology at A-level, and I am hoping to read Medicine at university when I leave.

I have a keen interest in sports and music, playing both hockey and netball, as well as being part of the Senior Choir and playing the saxophone. In fact, one of my favourite memories from my time at Howell’s was our Year 9 hockey tour to Newcastle.

Howell’s is an amazing place to get involved in everything, from taking part in productions like Oliver! and Legally Blonde, to playing for sports teams, taking on volunteering roles, and putting 110% into every house event. House panto has been one of my highlights of this past year, especially as Trotter (the best house, in my slightly biased opinion!) won.

One of my favourite things about Howell’s is the connections and relationships you form, not only with those in your year group but also with those in other year groups and with teachers. The sense of community permeates all aspects of life, something I feel most strongly as a member of the 1st XI hockey team, which includes students from Years 10–13.

Being Head Girl of Howell’s is such an incredible honour, and I can’t wait to give back to the school that has helped me become the person I am today.
