The Academic Scholarships rewards students who are strong in one or more academic areas. For example, a group of subjects such as Languages or STEM or an individual subject such as a Humanity or English.

Students are required to sit a scholarship paper comprising a compulsory reasoning section and a subject-specific section, from which students should choose to answer questions on two academic subjects. Shortlisted students will be invited for an interview with a member of the College Leadership Team and our Director of Academic Development.

Students should be taking Art/Product Design at A level. Students are required to bring their portfolio of work to the interview. In addition to discussing their own work, students should display a comprehensive love of art and design by being able to talk about the work of other artists, designers or architects.

For the audition and interview, students should be prepared to perform a monologue of no more than two minutes. Students must show evidence of interest in the theatre, including performance, technical aspects and watching theatrical productions. Whilst we do not require scholars to take Drama at A level, we do expect them to participate in the school productions.

Students can immerse themselves in co-curricular music and represent the School and College. There is no requirement for them to take A level Music, although it is preferred. They will be required to commit to at least two of the co-curricular ensembles as agreed with the Director of Music.

As a minimum, students should have passed Grade 8 ABRSM or equivalent in at least one instrument at the time of applying for the scholarship. The audition will require students to:

· Perform two contrasting pieces of no more than six minutes in total

· Complete sight reading and aural tests

· Complete an interview focusing on their musical interests, experiences and ambitions

Sports scholarships may be awarded to students who have a significant strength, to national and county level, in one or more sports. In the case of certain sports, the selection to an academy or national/regional elite training group may be seen as comparable. The scholarship assessment will comprise of a series of physical tests on a separate sports testing evening.

The scholarship testing includes:

· Generic ball and spatial awareness skills

· Fitness testing

Applicants will then be invited to attend an interview on a different day with the Director of Sport to discuss their sporting experiences.
