Students and staff at Howell’s Prep School are celebrating a fantastic achievement after securing 3rd place in Cardiff Rocks, a city-wide times tables competition run by the internationally renowned, award-winning learning platform Times Tables Rock Stars.
The competition challenged pupils to correctly answer as many multiplication and division questions as possible, earning points for their class and school. The scale of the event was impressive, with:

Participants from 29+ schools and 157 classes across Cardiff
Howell’s pupils delivered outstanding performances throughout the challenge. Our top-performing class, 6SH, achieved an average of 2,331 points per student, with pupils answering an average of 1,227 questions correctly each.
A special congratulations goes to Soha, our highest-scoring student, who answered an incredible 6,740 questions correctly.
Bruno Reddy, creator of Times Tables Rock Stars, praised the students’ efforts:
“The students excelled themselves throughout Cardiff Rocks. Not only did they engage in some friendly competition, but there were also clear improvements in their recall and speed as time went on. That’s always been our goal – to make learning maths basics so fun that students give it their all.”
