The Howell’s Advantage: The Journey Behind This Year’s University Offers

As our Year 13 students continue to receive offers from universities across the UK, we are proud to celebrate not only the outcomes themselves, but the journey behind them.

So far, our Year 13 cohort has secured an exceptional breadth of university offers, spanning:

· Highly competitive institutions, including the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, UCL, King’s College London, Durham, Warwick, Bristol, Bath, Manchester, Exeter and Edinburgh

· Demanding and selective courses, such as Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Law, Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy, Human, Social & Political Sciences and Biomedical Sciences

· STEM pathways such as Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Biochemistry, Mathematics and AI

· Humanities and Social Sciences, including History, Philosophy, Economics, Sociology, Criminology, International Relations and Modern Languages

· Creative and design-led courses, from Architecture and Product Design to Film, Professional Dance and Musical Theatre

· Business, finance and real-world professional routes, many with industrial placements, study abroad and applied learning opportunities

Each university offer received by a Howell’s School, Llandaff student represents ambition in its many forms — academic excellence, creativity, technical expertise and a strong sense of purpose. It reflects intellectual curiosity, academic commitment, personal growth and careful guidance — and it tells a much richer story than a list of courses ever could.

At Howell’s, university offers are never viewed as an end in themselves. Instead, they are a natural outcome of an educational approach that places the individual student at its centre. From the very start of Year 12, students are encouraged to think deeply about who they are, how they learn, and where their interests and strengths truly lie. This ensures that applications are not only competitive, but authentic.

Hollie Jeans, Director of College said: “What makes this year’s offers so rewarding is not simply their number or prestige, but the healthy diversity of the applications and the thoughtfulness behind them. Our students have approached the process with maturity, curiosity and a strong sense of self. They have taken time to explore what truly motivates them, and the offers they are receiving reflect that depth of understanding. We are incredibly proud of the way they have embraced both challenge and opportunity.”

One of the most striking features of this year’s offers is their diversity. Alongside multiple offers for Medicine and Veterinary Medicine — including invitations from the Royal Veterinary College and offers from Cardiff, Exeter, Nottingham, Surrey and Harper & Keele — we are seeing students thrive across a remarkable range of disciplines.

Whether students go on to study at a global research university, a specialist institution or a practice-focused course, they do so as confident, articulate and reflective young people, ready to make the most of the opportunities ahead.

As offers continue to arrive, we are immensely proud of this Year 13 cohort — not just for where they are going, but for how they have approached the process.

Their success is a testament to:

· their hard work and ambition

· the support of families

· and the dedication of staff who champion every student’s potential

Most of all, it reflects the values at the heart of Howell’s: intellectual curiosity, personal authenticity, and the confidence to shape one’s own future. We look forward to supporting our students as they take their next steps — wherever those may lead.
