Applying to the Nursery

Get ready for an exciting first step in your daughter’s journey with us.

After you register and your daughter is approaching her third birthday, we will invite her to an assessment through play with Miss Davies. Your daughter will usually stay with Miss Davies in the Nursery for around an hour. She will have a short assessment and then join the girls in play and maybe have a snack with them. Once your daughter is settled, you can leave her to have a cup of coffee in reception.

Step in to Howell's Nursery

Our Nursery girls benefit from dedicated one-to-one support, developing confidence and key skills to ensure they’re more than ready for Reception.

  • We have a structured timetable for the Nursery.  The girls will do English and Maths, learning through play.  Music, PE and swimming are all taught by specialist teachers.  The girls also spend time every week with the reception teacher.  By the time they finish in the nursery, they are confident, happy and looking forward to moving to their new adventures in school.

  • The girls wear a polo shirt, sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms.  They need wellies and slippers and we have waterproofs for Forest School. We have a range of second-hand uniform available.

  • To ensure appropriate staffing levels and maintain the required adult-to-child ratios, sessions cannot be moved or swapped due to illness or holiday absence.
