Sport plays a pivotal role in life at Howell’s Prep School. We embrace a philosophy of ‘sport for life’, viewing it as a cornerstone for fostering confidence, friendship, leadership, resilience, and overall health and wellbeing.
We advocate for inclusivity in sports. With robust resources, we offer a wide array of sports ensuring every girl discovers a sport she enjoys. Our dedicated sports department oversees activities in both Senior and Prep School, meaning that there is a cohesive approach to sports development that runs throughout your daughter’s time at school.
Our comprehensive sports programme empowers girls to explore and thrive in a diverse range of extracurricular clubs, including athletics, ballet, cheerleading, cricket, football, gymnastics, jazz dance, tennis, softball and yoga. These clubs offer an excellent opportunity for girls to try something new and make new friends.

Core Sports
Swimming lessons at our school pool, weekly. PE lessons, which include - according to the season - football, hockey, netball, gymnastics, dance, and athletics, three times a week.
Talented Athlete Programme
Our Talented Athlete Programme (TAP) supports girls who wish to deepen their involvement in sports and are seeking further challenges. The TAP Cubs group is open to girls in Years 2 and 3, while TAP Tigers serves girls in Years 3 and 4. Girls in Years 5 and 6 can trial for our full TAP or TAP Development groups, which continue seamlessly into Senior School.
