Achieving Her Personal Best: Sport at Howell's
At Howell’s, we are dedicated to unleashing every girl’s personal best through sport.
Sport is a cornerstone of our community, fostering confidence, forging friendships, nurturing leadership, building resilience, and enhancing overall wellbeing. Our comprehensive sports programme is designed to cater to every interest and skill level, from competitive athletes to those seeking recreational activities.
With state-of-the-art facilities and a well-resourced sports department overseeing both Senior and Prep Schools, we ensure a seamless journey of development. Our students excel in their chosen sports during their school years and continue to lead active, healthy lives long after they leave us.
PE is effectively integrated into the curriculum from Years 7 to 11, featuring various seasonal activities including football, hockey, netball, gymnastics, dance, health and wellbeing, swimming, cricket, and athletics.

Getting serious about sport
Each year brings a fresh expansion of our sporting offerings, designed to unlock every girl’s full potential.
In Year 7, students engage with core sports, but from Year 8 onwards, our programme diversifies with an exciting array of options to enrich their sporting journey. Choices include badminton, volleyball, handball, access to our fitness suite, strength and conditioning, yoga, pilates, and cheerleading.
Our vibrant extracurricular clubs, available at lunchtime and after school, offer an extensive range of activities for students to discover new interests and build lasting friendships. Through partnerships with external sports clubs, coaches, and organisations such as the Mintridge Foundation, we provide unique opportunities including demonstrations and taster sessions in activities ranging from shooting to fencing.
At Howell’s, we are committed to fostering sporting excellence and ensuring that every girl has the chance to explore her passions and achieve her personal best.
